Miss Kings County Pageant is held in February or March every year. This years pageant was held February 20th 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stratton L. Tarvin Presentation Center located at the Hanford High School. Our club hosted the reception and had several club members’ work
on the Miss Kings County committee. We have contributed to the pageant for many years.
The Friday previous, Soroptimist members judged and selected their winners for our club’s service awards. Saturday morning there was plenty of help to decorate the reception area in the cafeteria and Cheryl Zeman dedicated her time to making the delicious cookies and cupcakes. The theme this year was “That’s Amore†so naturally there were hearts and flowers galore.
Before the event Linda Silveira and Cheryl Calhoun were the make up artists for the pageant members. During the pageant Soroptimist members assisted with the sale of flowers and programs for the event. Domonique Butler Horn had the honor of handing out the service awards to our selected winners Victoria Shackeiford of Hanford and Haley DuBois of Lemoore. These recipients served the community with hours of service during the past year. Meagan Corbridge was crowned Miss Kings County for 2010 and Brittnee Bettencourt was first runner up with Victoria Shackelford as second runner up.
